Jeonju - Must-go place if you are looking for a Korean thing... Part 1

: So far Jeonju just reminded me of Bibambap(A kind of meal, rice mixed with vegetables and so on), but there is the Old Town in Jeonju. As you know, Korean buildings are made of wood which is the reason why we don't have many Hanoks(Korean house) due to wars.....

  Old Town

As you know when you traveled in EU, each city there has an so-called 'old town' and new town. Yes, you can see that in Jeonju here...

Location

An old but live town, I didn't expect to see it here. It's not just a cultural heritage, preserving place. It's town where people are living.

The above picture is taken at a spot where you can see the whole town. The below picture is a street in the town.

As much as it gets old, it gets more precious... All around the Korea, the Nature suffer from the development, which I really hate.. so this kind of old buildings becomes more and more precious...

And if you plan to visit here, I want you to use free guide tour. There are several routes and programs for that. What you have to do is just to there in time like 'tip-based guide tour in EU'. But only English and Korean is available. From the guide tour, you will get to know how this town survived and suffered much from the wars, Japanese destruction and so on.

Seonbi, so straight and royal... And the Seongrihak

: Seonbi is a Korean scholar in Chosun Dynasty. And Seongrihak is a study branch developed from the Confucionism. Yes, traditions has its good thing and bad thing. Seongrihak is all about ethics, something to do, not to do, to be forbidden and so on... In Korea, it went too far!!

So during Chosun, the science, skills and practical approach were so much under-valued. This was the reason why Chosun continued more than 500 years and also why we suffered from wars by Japan....

Below is the tree which survived more than 400 years...

So, here you can feel Korean everywhere. Hanok means "Korean House", but we mean Korean Traditional House made of wood....
