Review - Jeju Geomeong Noodle

I try to eat something which I can eat only that place or do something, see something which is possible to do only in that place. I thought it was but... the noodle soup was a kind which I can see in other place in Korea. Geomeong means 'black' which makes me expect to eat something black but there were no black thing in the food.

1

 Jeju Geomeong Noodle

It is located at the place near one of the main tourist attractions, Yongmeori and Sanbansan, where the scenery was quite good. But the price was not that satisfactory.

Location

It is the place... as you see above pictures, very familiar building style you can see in almost every city in Korea. This is Korea now.... I expected to something new here but... the city itself... doesn't have any special thing... which I really hate about Korea.

2

 Food

: Good side dished. And not bad kimchi which was not that delicious... just not bad. The price for 1 person amount was 7,000 won for egg noodle.

: Interior was good and clean, from which I could see why people like this place.

Review - Jeju Love Car Rental(제주 사랑 렌트카)

Planning on travelling in Jeju? You'd better consider renting a car. While travelling around the Jeju, I found the rent cars quite common in Jeju. But it's very sorry to say that renting a car in Jeju is not convenient at all for foreigner. Even online reservation was not that good in terms of choices....

In Korean language, more cheaper and wider choice.

1

 Jeju Sarang Rent Car

I went there personally and rent a small car. Of course I had searched several options on the Internet and tried to go to a place which I chose. But I came across this rental business on the way... And I decided to go and find the price... And it was turned out to be not bad. For 3 days, Kia Morning, Insurance Included total 116,000 won(About 100 USD).

Location

There are many price comparison web sites.. but not in English... It's too bad. As you see below, it's just 18,000 won(17 USD) a day. Insurance included.

And another site... "Jeju Pass Rent"

And English sites I've tried.... but...

1. This one has various options but more expensive. 27 GBP means 41,000 won(about 40 USD).

2. Less option and expensive. For two days 147,911 won(about 70,000 won and more than 65 USD a day).

3. It needs you to register.

451 EUR a day.

2

 The car I rent...

: It's just old Kia Morning. Not 'All New Morning'. Not bad.

: It became more expensive than I expected due to more extensive insurance. 40,000 won a day(about 40 USD) seems to be expensive. I think 20,000 won is very good price for that.

The following is the contract you are going to sign on.

But the important thing is the fine print.

1. Insurance for general purpose and self damage, but except Indemnfication money, compensation for the compulsory workless days, expendables(tire, wheel, chain, emergency towing car fee, navigation and so on) in case of accident. Those are the expense you have to pay in accident. It applies to only 1 accident. And accident in another island and snowy road are not applied. In Summary, it's so limited!!!

2. When you violate a law, you are the responsible.

3. If your fault is more than 50 % in an accident and the car is not able to work, the left rent fee is not refundable.

4. Only drivers who are registered on the contract can drive.

My first hostel in Jeju, BP Guesthouse

You can find lots of hostels and guesthouses. In Korea, I don't know why but we call this kind of lodging business a guesthouse, not hostel more frequently. Nowadays, some guesthouses use 'hostel' together... FYI, "agoda.com" is the apps you can reserve with lowest price.

1

 BP Guesthouse

I reserved this through 'Hotels.com' which supports Paypal. 16.50 USD for 6-male dorm. Total 20.77 USD. It's a little bit expensive to me. And I had to pay about 19 USD for extension. The owner asked me 20,000 won.

Location

First, I couldn't find the entrance right away when I got there. Later I found it was a kind of common thing for a new guest to go through.

Here the facilities are really good. For the 6 male dormitory, there are two rooms. 1 room with 2 beds and the other with 4 beds. The beds are so clean.. good blankets.

In the 6 male dorm, kitchen and toilet were installed. And downstairs there is a common room almost looking like a living room.

And the beds are really good. Hard and installed firmly. Each bed has 1 electric sheet which was so warm.

And in kitchen inside of the dorm, there were many things... you can cook there... And free beers inside of the refrigerator.

Besides, it was very warm due to a good warming system.

 More pictures...

: Wifi signal was not that strong... I had to find a good spot for that... And the garden was so good.

: 1st floor, the living room was so spacious. And the kitchen, I was able to eat breakfast there. Just normal breakfast... Not good not bad.

More guests from Taiwan, good hostel with new facilities - Chocolate Tree

Many cheap and good hostels are around the Hongdae Imgu Subway Station. And this hostel had a good review at Hotels.com. Yes, this was a good choice to stay considering many things.

1

 Chocolate Tree

I reserved this through 'Hotels.com' which supports Paypal. 11.31 USD for 6-mixed dorm. Total 12.44 USD

Location

Around the building there were many motels... which is so-called "motel town". I guess it seems to be transformed from a model.

One thing I didn't like here was the beds itself. So light and not fixed, not firmly installed, by which I almost pulled down the bed. And much noise made when I tried to climb my upper bed. I found this kind of beds later when I was in Jeju...

The beds should be installed stable and firm. And also the power outlets were not enough for me. I need at least 2 sockets but.... And only lower beds have curtain for privacy. In that case the upper bed should be more cheaper.

The breakfast was not bad. Especially the peanut butter was unique... the only place I've ever been which provide peanut butter in Korea. Because peanut butter is not usual thing in Korea.

 More pictures...

: Facilities are comparatively new and good. Toilet inside of the room which is not good. I prefer toilet outside of the room. Also shower facility. Because if it is mixed dorm, showering can be uncomfortable.

: Here kitchen and common room was very good.

: Very clean and new. And also videt system was installed on the toilet. Refrigerators were also new.

Yep, considering price, I have to say that it's really good.

I guess, lots of Korean wave fans come here... And the 9.0 review point of booking.com was understandable.
