Fairly big sized Memorial Hall for one person - Kim Mandeok Memorial, Part 2

As long as I know, this is the biggest museum for a memorial of 1 person. After visiting this place I felt like I read a whole biography book.

 Kim Mandeok

I came to know of her in a park and then I found this on a map. And I decided to go there.

The location

I came to think of her again through this museum. And it was a good chance to think about the life of women in Chosun dynasty. As far as I know it was the era of savage to women. The basic notion between male and female is like this. Man is precious and women are slaves... But anytime anywhere, it is a place where people live which means everything can happen if it happens in a human society.

Next, exhibition hall about 'sharing' continues. It is saying that we have to share to continue her will of helping people...

: About sharing.... it explains old practices such as Dure, Pumatsi and so on.

: And it also has plays for kids. Through this, kids can learn about sharing culture.

: So spacious. And they made it so that kids can enjoy as much as they can. And it's free. Why not bring a kid?

I noticed that it's a kind of new building and lots of money spent for this as soon as I entered. Clean floor and inside walls seem to be cleaned every day.

And I totally understood why it is built this way and big... Yes the citizens of Jeju supported this...

If you enter the exhibition hall, the story of her starts.

First, it starts with a story of King, Jongjo of Chosun Dynasty. I expected her youth life but it wasn't.

Jeju Sarabong Park - worth visiting if you have some time left for you...

Park, I usually visit parks while travelling which can tells me many things about the nation and the citizens. And good parks are recommended in travel apps such as Tripadviser. Personally, I like parks... nature inside of a City.

1

 Sarabong Park

There is a tomb of Kim Mandeok, the first CEO in Chosun Dynasty who helped Jeju people in hungers. And also it is located on the Mountain or hill, Sarabong. Therefore it has a good view from it.

Sarabong Park

If you are curious of Kim Mandeok, you can know of her by visiting Kim Mandeok Memorial Exhibition. She helped Jeju people when a famine came. Because of that, even now Jeju people remember her in this way...

On the other hand, parks has some history of a city. Parks in other countries also had a piece of history.

This is the monument of Kim Mandeok.

2

 The park

: Very well managed. And here also 3.1 Monument here. 3.1 means a big demonstration happened in Japan rule era, March 1, 1919 against Japanese cruel ruling.

: It is surrounded by a fence except several entrances. I expected to across the park to go further, which was not. Usually in Korea parks are not fenced. You can almost approach from anywhere but here it wasn't... Somewhat I understand why it is... considering lots of tourists from China...
