ASUS TF101, Transformer Tabbook - Purchasing used one and repair, Part 1

: A posting selling this product in 20,000 won(about 20 dollars) appeared on a used product selling site(Joonggonara). The reason was that it wasn't turned on. I needed one Android tab... It looked fine. And I decided to buy it.

 TF101 Model

The first impression of this device was, 'Yes, it's ASUS'. Made in Taiwan, which is a well known computer product manufacturer. This one looks so solid. And well made...

The appearance

One bolt missed out. It seems that the previous owner tried to repair this.

Checking the symptoms and finding the cause

It recharges with regular recharger which is not the dedicated recharger, but slowly. After a long day charging, it was turned on and turned off after a while use. At first, it didn't turn on at all. Anyway, I found that at least it's not the problem of the device itself. It must be a problem with charging or battery.

I found a similar symptom on Youtube

From the video, I inferred that the power supply(adapter) had a special output system. I found also a website where the structure was explained.

 The structure: Click Here

: According to the explanations on the website, the output voltage and current of this ASUS system are 15V and 1.2A and the output of the regular recharger are 5 V or 5.1V and 0.7A or 1.0A. Yes, with the regular recharger, it cannot be charged properly.

15V, 1.2A: when the screen off, it charges 35% an hour. And when the screen on, it charges.

5V, 0.5A:  when the screen off, it charges 3% an hour. And when the screen on, it doesn't charge.

5V, 2A:  when the screen off, it charges 10% an hour. And when the screen on, it doesn't charge

Look at the pins of the ASUS TF101 Adapter

Regular recharger

: If you look at closely, you can see there are more pins on the TF101 recharger than the regular one. In other words, it uses other wire for high voltage. Therefore it has more problems than other products.
