 1.3 Sexual behavior of Animals, insects and others

 동물이나 곤충의 성행동은 더 흥미롭고 다채롭다. 자웅동체부터 스스로 분화해서 번식하는 단세포 생물까지 정말 다양하다. 어떻게 보면 인간이나 동물이라는 존재는 기본 세포단위가 자신의 생존을 위해서 군집을 이룬 것이라고도 할 수 있다. 즉, 인간이 모여서 국가를 형성했듯이 세포가 모여서 하나의 생명을 이룬 것이라고도 할 수 있지 않을까? 즉, 단일한 세포 국가라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 그 국가를 구성하는 국민이 각자의 역할을 하고 있듯이 말이다. 

 The sexual behavior of animals is more interesting and diverse. Some change freely their sex role and cell animals reproduce themselves without a sex role. In a sense, an animal is an entity composed of cells. In other words, cells gathered to form a living being like a nation composed of people. 

 동물이나 곤충 등의 성행동은 인간의 상상력을 초월한다. 인간만이 할 것으로 생각되는 자위행위는 돌고래나 원숭이도 한다. 심지어 보노보는 동성애부터 시작해서 간통, 사회적 목적을 위한 성행위까지 인간에 버금갈만큼 그 형태가 다양하다. 이제 동물의 행동 중에 재미있는 사실들을 알아 보자.

 The sexual behaviors of animals and insects are beyond imagination. The masturbation which seems to be done only by human is also done by animals such as Dolphins and Monkeys. Besides, Bonobo does homosexual activities, adulteries and sexual intercourse for sexual purpose. Now let's look deeper at the behaviors.

1.3.1 동물의 성행동

 보노보 연구 자료는 많이 있다. 그 중에서 성적인 자료도 많은데 그 중 일부를 보자면, 특히 성적 행위가 인사 또는 갈등해소까지 사회적인 의미를 지니는 정도까지 빈번하게 이루어진다. 게다가 보노보는 다른 동물집단과는 달리 암컷 중심의 사회다. 이들의 이런 성적인 행동은 암컷과 수컷 사이에서만 일어나는 것이 아니고 같은 암컷끼리 그리고 어린 새끼와 어른 할 것 없이 모두 한다. 즉, 이 행위가 번식의 목적이 아닌 아른 목적으로 이루어지며 그 시간은 아주 짧다. 한 5 ~ 10초 정도만 이루어지는 것 같다. 참고로 아래는 보노보의 영상이다.

 There are many articles and research studies on the sexual behaviors of Bonobos. The sex is not only done for the reproduction but for social boding. It's done very frequently between male and female, young and old, female and female and so on. Sometimes it's used for relieving tension, which means it's a tool for peace. The duration is very short as from 5 to 10 seconds. The below is the footage showing the activities.

 

  1.3.1.2 멕시칸 윕테일 도마뱀

  1.3.1.2 Whiptail Lizards

 윕테일 도마뱀은 모두가 암컷이다. 달팽이처럼 양성을 가진 것도 아니다. 이들은 자신을 복제한다. 이들은 번식에 다른 암컷 파트너를 찾고 수컷과 암컷의 역할을 번갈아 맡는다. 다음은 그 동영상이다.

 Whiptail Lizards are a species that is composed only of females. Whiptail lizards produce clones of themselves. With only females available, the lizards seek out a same sex partner and act out the roles of a male and female, switching roles. The following is the video.

  1.3.1.3 Sea Horse

 번식 방법은 비슷하지만 결정적인 차이는 출산과 양육이라는 그 역할이 뒤바뀌어 있다는 것이다. 수컷은 암컷의 난자를 받아서 특수한 주머니에 넣어 수정을 한 후에 어느 정토 커질때까지 지도 다니다가 출산을 한다. 아래는 출산장면.

Seahorse females implant their eggs into a male, where they are fertilized. After mating, the female leaves the male alone to carry the eggs in his specially developed pouch.  And then the male will give birth to the babies. The sex roles are just reversed. The below video shows how they give birth.
